About
Upstate Design Associates, LLC is a consulting engineering firm founded in Upstate New York in 2007. We provide engineering services to industrial, commercial and residential clients throughout Upstate New York.

The firm consists of one registered licensed design professional with over 30 years combined experience in the construction and building industries. We bring an extensive hands on approach to our design services and offer unique innovative design solutions to our clients. Our job does not end when your design in is complete, we work with contractors and builders to see your project to successful completion from start to finish.

Registered Professional Engineer in New York, Florida and Vermont.

Notable Projects
Project Engineer for the Ganienkeh Micro-Hydro Project, Altona NY, 2013 to 2015.
Designed structures and penstock for a 180 KW hydro power generating plant. Structural civil design with drawings of intake and powerhouse structures, river cheek walls with rock anchors and large concrete wingwalls, thrust blocks. Provided oversight throughout the project with construction inspections.
Project Engineer for the Augur Lake Dam Repair, completed Fall 2017.
We utilized value engineering to reduce the original cost estimate for replacement of the Dam. Original costs estimates were over $600k, our innovative design solution resulted in the successful repair of the dam at less than half of the original construction estimate.

Provided civil / structural design, NYSDEC permitting, and construction bidding documents for a cellular precast concrete stemwall repair and reinforcement design for a 100 year old stone and masonry dam structure. Provided oversight throughout the project with project management, construction inspections and reports. Client - Town of Chesterfield NY
Project Engineer for the 100,000 sf North Country Malt Warehouse Expansion Champlain NY, 2014 to 2015.
Provide civil site design, land planning and subdivision design, foundation design for a 200x500’ pre-engineered metal building, and fire pond design for the warehouse. Provided oversight throughout the project with construction inspections.
NYS OGS Franklin Correctional Facility, Malone NY, 2015.
Design a 39’ x 43’ x 30’ deep braced sheet pile excavation support system.
​
System consists of sheet pile walls with internal whalers and temporary support struts. Design and generate a shoring excavation sequence with corresponding calculations and sequence drawings. Prepared drawings of all systems with connection details and site plans for the project.
